How Will I Fit In With The Familys Needs

Taking the decision to study at home for a new qualification is almost certainly going to affect your family life in some way, especially if you have children. One of the best ways to make sure that you get your time to study without neglecting the family's needs is to talk to them about your plans.

Get together as a family and explain that you are doing this course to help all of you have a better life together so that they understand if, for example, you are going to shut yourself away from them in another room to study.

Even quite young children can understand things when you take the time to explain things and to older children, its just someone else in the house doing homework! You may even be able to study together.

As a reward for their co-operation and support, and for your hard work – plan some treats along the way as you study. When you complete an assignment – go for a pizza or to see a movie. Celebrating as a family will keep you on track and the family on your side!

The most important thing is that you stick to your studies and get that life-changing qualification. Remember that your tutors are there to help, so do use the College's resources to help you. Good luck with your studies.
